Top partner Supplier

Janssen-Fritsen

Janssen-Fritsen was founded in 1950 as a Dutch family business in Helmond, initially producing playground equipment. It has since grown into a company specializing in physical education and gymnastics, renowned for its high-quality products. The company has supplied sports equipment for the Olympic Games in Mexico, Munich, Barcelona, Athens, Beijing, Rio, and Tokyo.

The organization primarily serves schools, municipalities, and sports clubs, equipping indoor sports facilities with wall and ceiling apparatus, as well as storage solutions for portable equipment, mats, balls, and cabinets. They also maintain these facilities through inspections and ongoing maintenance. “With good equipment, we ensure safe physical education. Safety is our guiding principle”, says director John van der Horst.

Janssen-Fritsen makes movement a sport. John adds enthusiastically: “We always think about how we can challenge children and adults to stay motivated to move. That goal guides everything we do. We enjoy designing products that inspire them—like new mats—and even consider color and graphics on the surrounding walls.”

Van Spreuwel Transport

Kees and Frank van Spreuwel jointly lead the family business founded in 1992 by their parents. C.J.A.M. van Spreuwel already had over 30 years of experience in the transport industry and initially operated from home with a fleet of three trucks. Two years later, the company moved to a facility in Son, allowing storage of various goods.

Since 1999, Van Spreuwel Transport has been based at the Goods Distribution Center in Acht (Eindhoven), in a building of over 4,500 square meters dedicated to transport and distribution, storage and handling, logistics services, and express transport. In 2009, a new 6,000-square-meter facility with 22 docks was added.

Van Spreuwel Transport is a transparent organization with clear, efficient lines of communication. “What we agree on, we deliver 100%,” says director Kees van Spreuwel. He has made the transportation of gym equipment and play items for the Sports for Children Foundation possible. “Just drive”, he told the driver. “We’ll follow right behind.” He even occasionally takes detours to pick up items himself.

A generous gesture. We are especially grateful for this friendly and dedicated collaboration.

Matras Recycling Europe

Matras Recycling Europe in Utrecht specializes in collecting and dismantling used mattresses and manages to reuse 95% of the materials recovered. In this way, the company contributes to a sustainable society.

On the fresh, green website of this environmentally conscious company, a calf stares back at you. One high-quality application of the recycled materials is cow bedding—a thin mattress that provides comfort for cows in the barn. Other striking examples include judo and yoga mats, wheelbarrow tires, cushioning material, floor insulation, door and wall insulation, and padding for car dashboards.

Unique and complex

Director Ruud Kortink explains:”We’re not a waste company, we’re recyclers. In The Netherlands, one and a half to two million mattresses are discarded each year. We inspect the foam inside the mattress to see if it can be integrated into our processing stream and whether it’s suitable for a new product. Over time, we’ve built up a lot of knowledge about what mattresses are made of. I’m an industrial designer and have always worked in manufacturing. Together with others, I want to create something unique and complex, but above all, useful.”

A top sport mentality

Matras Recycling Europe works closely with communities and retailers to collect old mattresses. Their collection system and processing method are so efficient that the company regularly wins public tenders thanks to its competitive pricing and high recycling rate.

A heart for good causes

For Sports for Children, Matras Recycling Europe mainly processes sports mats from gymnasiums. “I believe in doing something for a charitable organisation when it fits, and this one fits perfectly,” says Ruud. “Our most suitable product is the judo mat. We produce a new foam layer, firmer than a regular mattress, made up of small pieces of old mattresses. With these judo mats, we give children in countries where sport isn’t taken for granted the chance to play and have fun.”

De Heeren van Vonder

In the heart of Eindhoven, advertising agency De Heeren van Vonder passionately builds strong, lasting brands. Creative entrepreneurs Wouter van Nieuwland and Antonie de Rooij view a brand as a personality—it grows and transforms, like a ‘golden egg’ hatching.

Their talent lies in strategically developing a brand and helping it flourish. Before creating any advertising, marketing, or communication materials, they work closely with the client to answer the question: what does the brand stand for? They examine the brand’s image, positioning, and message, and only then do they design campaigns and powerful communication tools that strengthen and refresh the brand.

Doing good

The agency adds value—in an honest and authentic way. “It’s in our nature”, explains Antonie. “The golden egg symbolizes thinking ahead—nurturing an idea until it becomes a golden discovery. Stepping into the client’s shoes and doing something good for their brand.”

Wouter and Antonie are known for their strong social commitment. For Sports for Children, they designed the logo and other communication materials. The agency holds the foundation close to their hearts. Antonie also serves as a board member and Wouter is chairman of the Advisory Committee.

From Eindhoven with impact.

HUP

The most sporty hotel in the Netherlands has a quintessentially Dutch name: “Hup” —the cheer you shout to encourage someone to get moving! And at HUP, you can indeed get moving, from trampolining to swimming, fitness, squash, and bowling. Guests of all ages can play, exercise, and experience a variety of activities.

HUP caters to families, sports teams, and business partners, offering accommodations, meeting spaces, athletic performance opportunities, relaxation, and excellent food and drinks. The hotel features a cinema, a shop with trendy sports items, and a unique museum with a special collection of top football memorabilia. For children up to 11 years old, there’s Monkey Town, an indoor play paradise. And in the lobby, you can enjoy the giant slide—let your inner child and your little one loose!

A strong collaboration

It’s no wonder that HUP and Sports for Children found each other. “We’ve incorporated many sporty elements from the foundation into our design,” says Mark Oidtmann, director of the sports hotel. “We asked ourselves, ‘How can we turn used sports equipment into fun, new furniture for HUP?’ That led us to Stefan Groothuis and the Sports for Children warehouse in Helmond.”

Creating together for a lifetime

Mark continues: “Soon, we struck a deal: we had six vaulting boxes transformed into cabinets for our meeting rooms, and we got one back. We ordered bags and cushions, and the cutlery for our breakfast buffet is arranged in korfball baskets. It looks fantastic.”

“Our relationship is about helping each other without a contract—just trust. You are a partner. We give something, they give something. That’s how great things happen. In this way, we’ve contributed to transports. What Sports for Children does is something we truly believe in. This is a partnership that will never fade.”

Hup! Meet, greet, eat & play. Business as unusual.

Gym

With nearly 1,000 ideas for warm-up games and gym lessons, Gymspiratie is the go-to website for physical education teachers in primary and secondary schools. Gijs Hosman, a PE teacher in the The Hague region, is the mind behind this community.

Always find inspiration for your next gym class!

The website is simple and user-friendly. Teachers can become members and pay a subscription fee for access to sports and games, including hall diagrams and clear instructions. They enter a lesson plan or type of activity along with the age group, and a list of suitable activities is generated. Here’s a glimpse of the new gym lessons by Jeroen Sprinkhuizen.

A heart for gym

Gijs connected with the Sports for Children Foundation through a coordinator from The Hague schools. “This cause fits us perfectly—we both have a heart for gym”, Gijs says enthusiastically. “Two years ago, we made our first donation. Since 2020, 1% of our revenue has been donated to the foundation, helping transport safe, usable gym equipment to children abroad.”

Collaboration with schools

A real-life story

“When we merged with another school, we had some leftover sports and play equipment. Some of it was outdated, but much was still usable. We selected the best pieces for our own children, and donated the rest to the Sports for Children Foudation.”

A wonderful destination

Happy, active children

“Six months later, Stefan sent us photos of the equipment in use at a school in Croatia. It was amazing to see our items being enjoyed again after years of sitting unused. But what made it truly special was seeing all those children playing and smiling!”

We are happy to help you further
